Backend Software Engineer

Appreo is a multi-tenant SaaS platform (PHP/Laravel, MySQL) that builds planning, hour registration with much more for facility-service businesses. I’m one of two backend developers on a six-person development team and build modules from database schema to API.

• Cut a key planning view from 25 s to under 100 ms. I replaced a 1,000+ line legacy function with a purpose-built endpoint: indexed schema, generated columns and incrementally rebuilt pre-computed data.
• Designed a data-access layer: one class per database read or write, each with typed inputs and results. Queries don’t depend on the HTTP request and can be swapped for fakes in tests.
• Built the public REST API with OpenAPI docs and a full test suite. Connected the platform to Nmbrs, Loket, AFAS and Moneybird (payroll and accounting) using OAuth/SSO.
• Wrote the team’s coding conventions and added code generators, DTOs, enums and a typed reference system for tables and columns. Our AI coding agents follow the same conventions.
• Rebuilt the test suite: shared helpers, flaky-test management and a documented local and CI environment.
• Designed per-tenant file storage on S3-compatible disks and migrated more than 5 million existing files.
• Upgraded Laravel 9 → 13 and PHP to 8.3.
• Built dashboards on Elasticsearch: calculated data is indexed and then aggregated for display.

• We design and build modular camper boxes; the business launched in April 2026.
• Building the new company website with an interactive 3D product configurator.
• Run our Instagram and Facebook: mostly through reels on how the box is built and used.
• Help build the boxes, shape new designs and present the Cove box to visitors at trade fairs.

• Built web applications in Laravel and TypeScript in a team with code review and a Git workflow.
• Front-end work in JavaScript, Sass and HTML, with webpack and npm.

• Taught myself functional programming through Nix; my system configuration is fully declarative and reproducible.
